One of the key principles Christina Ong keeps close to her heart is to “always keep an open mind. You never know what an opportunity can bring.” When a headhunter first approached her more than a decade ago with an opportunity in procurement, she thought they were making a mistake. After all, she never had a day of procurement experience in her entire life. Fast forward 13 years later, and Ong has “never looked back” on this opportunity that led to a fascinating career in procurement — one that she says fits her personality much better.

As part of this “Women in Procurement” series, I often get to interview women who are dedicated to and excited about the field of procurement. My recent conversation with Sara Muller was definitely no exception. She admittedly “lives and breathes procurement” in her role as the Procurement Manager at World Wildlife Fund (WWF) UK. Plus, our talk proved to be a fun and interesting intersection between women in procurement and sustainability topics.

After arriving back in Chicago from a wonderful business trip to California, I had to jot down my thoughts about the 2021 Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) Global Executive Summit. I was lucky enough to travel there last week with three of my colleagues from Spend Matters.
